Leanne is a ERYT-500 and Certified Yoga Therapist (C-IAYT) and has been teaching yoga since 2004. In 2006, Leanne became interested in Anusara Yoga®, a style of yoga that assisted with the healing of chronic pain issues in her shoulder.
Anusara® is known for its use of the Universal Principles of Alignment™ – an elegant system that integrates good structural therapy with a connection to heart and mind. Research shows that our psychology affects our physiology and yoga can help bridge this mind/body link.
Leanne reached the highest level of Anusara® certification in 2012 being one of 3 teachers in BC to do so and has gone on to start one of the only advanced yoga therapy teaching programs in BC. Utilizing yoga therapy, Leanne helps patients transition their physiotherapy program into a yoga practice, using a holistic approach that is consistent with the approach advocated at Diane Lee & Associates for movement facilitation and exercise.
Working one-on-one, patients are guided through a variety of yoga positions to determine which areas of the body need strengthening, lengthening, and releasing. As a Yoga therapist, Leanne teaches how to move from the inside out, empowering patients to shift away from pain and back into the activities they enjoy.
